Coxheath And Loose Active Retirement Association

CALARA is a club for local retired persons (50+) based at Coxheath Village Hall. It was formed in 1999 and has grown successfully since then, the only limit to numbers being the maximum capacity of the hall itself. The Club encourages its members to be active and involved in the community.

The general meetings are held on the first Friday of each month between 2.00pm and 4.00pm. Speakers and entertainers are generally of high quality and are provided, based on recommendations. The meeting is also an opportunity to meet other club members, to book and discuss the monthly activities and to socialise over a cup of tea.

Weekly events include short mat bowls (Tuesdays), line dancing (Wednesdays), art and craft (Fridays) and cribbage (Mondays). Monthly lunches are arranged and country walks by the walking group (also a less energetic 'strollers' section). There is an annual holiday as well as outings and theatre trips.

Annual subscriptions are £8 and cover general meetings. Currently there is a waiting list to join (because of the hall capacity) but there is also an Associate Membership (£2 per year) which enables associates to take part in all the monthly and weekly activities, except the general meetings. If you are retired or retiring in the near future, why not join in the fun as an Associate and/or put your name on the waiting list for full membership.
