Neighbourhood Plan Overview
The next step in the process is for the CNP to be subject to independent examination. We have been in touch with potential independent examiners. However, although we were told six months ago by MBC that we did not need a Strategic Environmental Assessment, under the EU Directive, for the Plan, this was not done propoerly by MBC and is having to be done again. We need to get this properly resolved before we can the go to the next step.
Notice of Publication of the Coxheath Neighbourhood Development Plan
(Regulation 16 of The Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012)
The 2012 Localism Act provided local communities with the opportunity to have considerably more say in the future of their locality, through the development of Neighbourhood Plans. Neighbourhood plans, together with local plans and other development plan documents produced by local authorities provide the policies which all future planning applications must satisfy before being approved.
Coxheath Parish Council has prepared a plan that sets out a sustainable vision for the parish of Coxheath and a series of policies the community wishes to be used in the determination of planning applications within the parish.
Maidstone Borough Council now has the task of organising a local public consultation, an independent examination and finally a referendum before deciding on whether to adopt the plan.
Formal public consultation on the plan will commence on 19 March 2014 and conclude at 5pm on 30 April 2014.

The Neighbourhood Plan has now been approved by the Parish Council and submitted to MBC.
Thank you to all those residents and groups who responded to the consultation on the Draft Neighbourhood Plan which ended in December. There was overwhelming support for the Plan's vision, objectives and proposals. A number of issues and concerns were raised and, where relevant, these have been taken into account in revising the Plan for submission to Maidstone BC. The Parish Council proposes to approve the plan for submission to MBC at its meeting at 7 pm on Friday 17 January in the Committee Room of the Village Hall.
A copy of the revised plan and the consultation statement can be viewed in the Parish Council Agenda/Minutes section of the website.
